Pollution

with products designed to support activists, researchers, governments, companies and communities tackling microplastic pollution locally.

The Problem

Microplastics

Microplastics are small plastics less than 5mm. Primary microplastic comes from pellet spills (nurdles), textile (microfibers), paint, cosmetic and vehicle tyre dust. Secondary microplastic comes from large plastic waste that has broken down into smaller pieces.

TYPES OF Microplastics

Nurdles

Microfibers

Aquaculture
Caps

Broken Down
Plastic

Why is this a problem?

Toxins accumulate in the environment.
Further fragmentation of the plastics occur.
Mistaken as food, these particles then enter the food chain.
These particles then affect us and wildlife in general.

Plastic pollution is a big problem to solve. It requires changes at every level of the plastic economy: in design, production, use, reuse, collection and recycling. While leaders around the globe are tackling these aspects, we, at Microplastix, focus on leakage prevention and remediation.

Even if we stopped any new plastic entering our natural systems today, there is still more than 100 million tons of plastic out there, contaminating our water, our land and foodchain. Through our products and services, we support activists, researchers, governments, companies, and communities to tackle microplastic pollution.
